Funded by Island Health and partnered with Island Health’s Adult Mental Health and Substance Use Services for Campbell River, The Dinner Bell Program consists of two main components.
First, students in the Vocational Training Program complete over 150 hours of combined vocational and experiential training including Food Safe and WHMIS. Red Seal Chef, Kathryn Guenette, provides instruction in a licensed industrial kitchen environment. Classes are small with opportunities for individualized instruction. Graduates have a solid grounding in food preparation and kitchen skills necessary for a range of entry-level employment opportunities.
The second component of The Dinner Bell is our Customer Program. Clients from The Adult Mental Health Services can purchase nutritious and affordable frozen entrèes prepared by the chef and students.
